Otto Richardson

Otto holds a degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Leeds, with a focus on Mathematics and Chemistry. His academic work involved laboratory research, where he developed an interest in structuring and presenting complex information clearly, which led him to a role at the Data School as a data analyst.

More recently, Otto transitioned into data engineering after completing a training course on the core principles of modern data engineering, where he developed expertise in Python, SQL, and dbt. He now works as a Data Engineer at BAE Systems, building and maintaining data pipelines to support analytics and reporting. His work primarily involves SQL and SSIS, with a focus on data transformation, modelling, and ensuring data quality in production workflows.

Otto also has extensive, hands-on experience using Tableau and Alteryx across organisations in multiple sectors, including retail and aviation. This experience allows him to work across the full data lifecycle, collaborating closely with analysts and stakeholders to design and deliver reliable, actionable insights. He continues to expand his data engineering skills through ongoing project work and engagement with the wider data community.

Also a former postman, Otto is committed to delivering exceptional results during every placement!
