For my first blog, I would like to share how my first day at The Data School went.
We kicked things off on the 4th of August by meeting the other Data School Consultants from DSDE11. After that, our coach Peter Gamble-Beresford gave us an office tour and a highlight for me was the table tennis (yes!!).
Then Birthe (thanks for the cake, btw 😁) and Mariia, both from DSDE10, gave us a short presentation packed with cool tips for the months ahead. It was super helpful and made things feel a lot more real.
Later on, TIL Deutschland’s Managing Director, Reeno Grummer, stopped by and took the time to talk to us about the company values, vision, and much more.
Lunch break was around 12:30pm. and it was quite nice to recharge a bit before the info dump hit us. 🤯
The afternoon was intense. We spent the rest of the day getting a short intro to some of the tools we'll be using (spoiler alert: there are a lot of them!!).
Two that stood out to me personally were:
- KeePass, which is basically a password manager where you can safely store all your account logins in one place. Cool trick: if you select your entry and press Ctrl + V, it automatically fills in your username and password when you go to a login page.
- Notion, which honestly feels for me like a WAY better version of Microsoft OneNote.
We finished up around 6pm, and by then my brain was definitely full. It was a lot, and I was very tired, but it was the kind of tired where you feel like you're starting something important. 😊
All in all, I'm really excited about the next four months of training ahead of us.
